Who can wear a mala?

Anyone can wear a mala, and we sincerely hope that more people will join in this movement. From a banker, an engineer, or a stay-at-home mom to an artist, a surfer and a yogi, Meisou malas are faithful companions to people from all walks of life. They serve as symbolic reminders to live every moment with joy and awareness.

How can I use my mala?

Your mala can be a wonderful tool to assist you in your busy life. It can be used as a reminder to take a moment to pause, reflect, and connect with the heart’s center, or as a meditation tool. The mala can also be used to express your intentions, lifestyle or personality. The unique gemstones and powerful rudraksha beads used in our malas produce positive energy that surround you as you go about your daily life.

When or where can I wear a mala?

Wear your mala throughout your busy day or glide each bead through your fingers during meditation and self-reflection. We do recommend that you take it off during strenuous activities to make sure that it stays safe and intact.

How are Meisou malas unique?

Meisou malas are fabricated from organic materials and use only natural plant dyes to give the prayer beads their vibrant colors. Created with intention and love, we use traditional methods of stringing and blessing each mala, and utilize the finest gemstones and rudraksha beads to create our prayer beads. We pair each mala pieces to enhance the natural powers of each stone.

Our commitment to preserving tradition and nature drives us to design our products with consciousness. Our goal is to lessen the negative impact in nature and generate more positive effect in the community.

In the long run, we aspire to share the love for malas and our appreciation of meditation with you in hopes of becoming a global community of artisans and adventurers.

Why do you use rudraksha beads?

We use rudraksha for its strong healing properties and spiritual significance. Rudraksha trees are native to Asia, specifically to India, Indonesia and China. They are regarded as ancient trees born from the tears of Shiva, and these small blueberry-like seeds have long been used in traditional mala-making. Rudraksha provides an energizing and protective field that is believed to carry mind and body healing properties.

From where is your rudraksha harvested?

All rudraksha beads used in our malas are sustainably harvested and fairly traded from a special region in the island of Java, Indonesia. This area of Java is revered as the best source of rudraksha in the world, and has produced high quality beads for many generations.

How do you select your gemstones?

We pair gemstones with purpose and intention in order to bring out the unique healing properties each gemstone carries. Each mala design is unique, powerful and aesthetically pleasing.

Why are there 108 beads in a mala?

The number 108 has a spiritual significance in meditation. When the numbers are added, the total signifies the earth’s proximity to the sun and moon. Thus, it fundamentally represents the tie between the universe and all of us.

Another significance to the number can be found in the yogic tradition, where 108 represents the number of sacred sites in India and the 108 sacred points in the body.

There are so many important symbolisms found in the number 108. Its beauty can be found in our own unique interpretations.

Will my mala look like the one in the photos?

Our malas are handcrafted using specific tradition, design and specifications. They will look much like the photos. Please remember that each gemstone and bead is unique, and that the color and size of the beads will vary slightly.

What is the length or material used in a particular mala?

Each mala’s material and length is unique. All information on the length and material is listed in the product description.

Do you offer custom malas? Can you alter the length or style of a mala?

At this time, we do not offer alteration or custom design. The length of each mala will vary, due to the unique size and shape of the gemstones and rudraksha beads. Length specifications can be found in the product description. We do hope that you find one or two, or five (we won’t judge) malas that will fit your unique specifications and intentions.
